PLEX MOVIE FILE RENAMING TOOL SERIES
Episode names aren't required but can help in some cases (IIRC, if you have a series that aired episodes out of order you can force Plex to recognize the "in universe" order by numbering the files correctly to the order you want to watch them and then name them with the correct name so it doesn't mis-label them when it pulls information from TheTVDB). For TV shows it's best to use and () if there are multiple shows with the same name (like The Flash (2014) so it doesn't match with The Flash (1991)) and then a separate season folder under that with episodes numbered underneath that.

It's best to put movies into a folder called () and put any and all files for that movie underneath that (you can use - if you have different resolutions and they'll be pickable when you play as well). Plex is surprisingly flexible in how it can parse filenames so long as they're generally of the format. I do want Siri support which would be icing on the cake. I don't really care much for the new News and Podcast features though. watch on phone, then on ipad, resume on TV, share libraries, yadda yadda. Overall though, if you're not super nit-picky about the quality (which I'm starting to succumb to), the Plex still seems like the most hassle free way to manage a personal video collection with multiple clients. It's a little disappointing but there are some benefits the ATV affords (mainly airplay video). I never had these issues with Plex home theatre, or plex media player, or openPHT on MacOS (which is what I was using before). So I've forced the ATV to covert to 5.1 dolby which causes some issues with some more niche files (mainly anime or files meant for non-north american audiences). I pipe my ATV into a reciever that's about 5+ years old and it doesn't support some of the newer audio codecs. The main issue I've seen is audio transcoding issues. I will echo that the ATV plex client is not the "best" in terms of compatibilty.
